i'm writing here to share some input that i just got from a talk by Sheikh Shareef al-Erbi from United States of America. Alhamdulillah it was about the key to Paradise .
everyone would answer "yes" if being asked whether you want to enter Paradise . of course to enter Jannah is our mission . it is the place where you can see what you never see , you can hear what you never hear and you can taste what you never taste . it is the best reward that we cannot earn . it is the best place ever for believers who only worship Allah .
theoretically , we know that all of us are eager to enter Paradise but the way we live are actually different . the attitude of Muslims nowadays is they say " my name is Muhammad , my name is Ahmad , my name is Fatimah , my name is Khadijah ... " finish . " doesn't matter what i do doesn't matter i don't do i have a pass in my pocket as i say Syahadah so i will enter Paradise as i say Syahadah , i believe that no one that should be worship except Allah and Muhammad is His Messenger . " . but do we actually fulfill the conditions of Syahadah to ensure we deserve Jannah ? a simple message in the early lecture .
there's one scholar was asked " isn't the key to Paradise is Lailahaillallah , the Syahadah ? " and he answered "yes it is . but every key has its own teeth . if you use the wrong key the door will not be opened . if you use the exact key , you will enter Paradise with it ." it means there are conditions to that Syahadah, to that testimony of faith . saying the words thousands of time doesn't mean we will enter Paradise . yes in the end we will but have we ask ourselves, are we strong enough or resist enough to the punishment in the hellfire? Nauzubillahiminzalik , may Allah protect us .
have we ever heard about the conditions of Syahadah ? these conditions are actually from the fundamental of our religion . the scholars took them from the Khadimul Quran and Hadith . Prophet Muhammad did say that whoever say Lailahaillallah will enter Paradise but in other narration he put conditions . so here are the 9 conditions which are the key to Paradise !
1. KNOWLEDGE
Muslim doesn't mean just to only know Allah exist and the only God . it is not sufficient . if it is , then shaytan also consider as Muslim because they also know and believe in Allah just that they rebel and disobey Him . so the important thing to do is to seek knowledge . it is important to take serious and learn our religion properly, about Islam from its basis . we always be reminded that the best of word is the word of Allah and the best example is Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him . so search the knowledge from both , via lectures or readings . seek , act and share the knowledge .
2. CERTAINTY
means we have no doubt and believe in every word and promise of Allah . any kind of doubt regarding things which are confirm in Al Quran and As Sunnah is equivalent to kufur or disbelieve . one must have in his heart the absolutely certain of the truth of Syahadah . Allah says the true believers are those who believe in Allah and His Messenger and afterwards doubt not . we are ready to sacrifice anything , our wealth , health , time for the sake of Allah . we believe that He promises us Jannah for the sacrifices . shaytan has 2 ways to misguide us . first is through shahwah or desire . but this one is not dangerous as we may repent and seek forgiveness from Allah . the dangerous one is syubhah or doubt because we bring it in us for the rest of our life if we don't have strong imaan . so how to stop the doubt ? is by the Quran and authentic Hadith with proper understanding.
3. ACCEPTANCE
accept by saying it with our tongues , believe it in our hearts and show them in our actions . means we accept everything that God says completely . not we take halves and we abandoned halves . it is wrong to take part of the Book which we believe suit us but reject part of it which we think does not suit us . the refusal to accept sometimes is due to pride , ego or many other reasons . the life will only have the beauty when we accept Islam as whole thus our Syahadah won't be worthless .
4. SUBMISSION AND COMPLIANCE
we surrender to Allah , thus imply actions and submission to the will and command of Allah because one of the essential component of imaan is action . we do amal to increase the imaan . if we have imaan then the actions prevail will be the good one . it is circle go round . well if a tree has good root , it will produce good fruit . faith is not just in heart . so somebody who has a good faith in heart , let us see with good actions .
5. TRUTHFULNESS
this is opposite of hipocracy and dishonesty . we must say Syahadah honestly , not lying or simply to deceive and threaten people . Allah says in Al Baqarah that those who are lying with their Syahadah will face the painful punishment in the Day of Judgement.
6. SINCERITY
one must do anything fro the sake of Allah, just to avoid punishment and gain His mercy. we should ask ourselves why we are Muslim . it is wrong to say " i am a Muslim because my parents are " . we should be clear that we are Muslim for Allah , first and last . so this will eventually lead to every single deed we do to only seek for the blessing of Allah .
7. LOVE
love the Syahadah , its requirement and what it stands for . again ask ourselves, " do i love Allah more than everything else ? " we sometimes said this when we need to go to pray " just give me 5 minutes i need to watch this football match " or " just another 10 minutes i have not chat with my friend for a long time "
*i also did , Astaghfirullahalazim .
so actually we do not yet love Allah because we choose other worldly thing and sacrifice our obligation to Allah . it said that there are 3 traits one has gained the sweetness of imaan . first is when he love Allah and His Messenger more than other , second is when he love his spouse for the sake of Allah and third when he hates to become disbelievers after Allah gives him guidance as much as he hates the hellfire.
8.TO REJECT AND DENY FALSE GOD (SYIRIK)
the thing that we are afraid nowadays is when we unconsciously worshipping other than Allah . fashion, money and desire are nowadays the object that disbelievers are worshipping . may Allah protect us . again to avoid this , back to the foundation of Islam and try as hard as we can to fulfill the 7 conditions above .
9. ADHERE TO SYAHADAH UNTIL YOU MEET ALLAH
and the last is Syahadah will only be meaningful to us until we fulfill all its conditions :)
we don't want our Syahadah to be worthless . thus together we strive to fulfill the conditions of Syahadah so it will be the key to unlock the door of Paradise .
" if I am a Muslim , i am the one who always improve myself and help others to improve "
may we will be the line up who really deserve to enter Jannah . ameen :)
